Miha Gravner, son and heir to Josko Gravner, dies at 27

Miha Gravner, 27, son and heir apparent to leading Friulian winemaker Josko Gravner, died Saturday evening after losing control of his motorcycle on the road between Zadar (Zara) and Karlobag in Croatia and suffering an injury to the head. The tragedy was reported today by the Sfuei dal Friûl Libar (Giornale del Friuli Libero or Free Friuli Journal, reposted here via Pane al Pane; photo by Alfonso Cevola).

Josko Gravner is widely considered a leader among natural and radical winemakers in Italy and the transnational Collio appellation.

  4. Truly sad news. I met father and son at a tasting a few years ago in Monza. The wines speak for themselves and the relationship between father and son was very tender. Condolences to the family, what a tragedy.

  5. Miha is deeply loved in America and will be widely missed. He has been a great inspiration to me and many of my friends. We have lost a great man but should take from him an example of how to live your life to the fullest.
